The 360 Watch is a key component of the EcoVadis methodology.

It consists of an automated external monitoring system, integrated into the CSR assessment process, designed to identify publicly available positive or negative information about a company.

Its purpose is to complement the self-declared questionnaire data with independent sources, ensuring the reliability and credibility of the EcoVadis score.

The role of 360 Watch in the EcoVadis assessment

EcoVadis evaluates companies across three main dimensions: Policies, Actions and Results.

360 Watch operates within the Results dimension, with a specific objective:
to verify whether the practices declared by the company are consistent with externally observed facts.

This monitoring is based on:

  • public databases and verified media sources;
  • reports issued by NGOs, trade unions, judicial authorities or regulatory bodies;
  • both positive information (awards, rankings, certifications) and negative information (convictions, complaints, incidents).
Good to know: 360 Watch follows a default neutrality principle. External signals can move the score above or below 50/100 depending on their nature and severity.

Types of information collected by 360 Watch

EcoVadis analysts look for any element likely to impact the company’s reputation, compliance or CSR credibility.

These signals are classified based on their nature, severity and thematic relevance.

Examples of signals taken into account

  • Positive information:
CSR awards, recognized certifications, impact partnerships, sustainability rankings.
  • Negative information:
judicial sanctions, human rights violations, environmental pollution, corruption scandals, serious workplace accidents.

Each item is verified, documented and weighted according to its potential impact on the four EcoVadis themes:
Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

The impact of 360 Watch on the final score

360 Watch does not generate a standalone score, but it directly influences the “Results” score, which is set by default at 50/100.

  • If no alerts are identified, the 360 Watch score remains neutral, at 50/100.
  • Verified positive information may result in a score above 50/100, reinforcing the overall credibility of the assessment.
  • Confirmed negative information may lead to a score below 50/100, with a direct impact on the final EcoVadis score.
Good to know: 360 Watch follows a default neutrality principle. External signals can move the score above or below 50/100 depending on their nature and severity.

The company’s right of reply

Assessed companies are granted a systematic right of reply.

Before the final score is validated, they can:

  • comment on the identified information,
  • provide context or justification,
  • demonstrate that corrective actions have been implemented,
  • challenge information that is inaccurate or outdated.

This step is essential to ensure a balanced and fact-based evaluation.

Benefits of 360 Watch for companies

The 360 Watch module strengthens the transparency and credibility of the EcoVadis assessment.

Its goal is not to sanction companies, but to objectively assess CSR performance using external sources.

Key benefits

  • Increased credibility of the score through independent verification.
  • Proactive reputation risk monitoring, especially on sensitive topics.
  • Greater clarity for clients and buying organizations.
  • A foundation for continuous improvement, as each signal can feed into corrective action plans.
Our recommendation: Regularly updating your CSR policies, actions and communications helps reduce gaps between internal practices and external perception, and better manage the impact of 360 Watch.
