CSR Assessments, Certifications, and Labels
EcoVadis
Sustainability rating of companies across four themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. EcoVadis gives a score from 0 to 100 and awards bronze, silver, gold or platinum medals.
CDP
Global environmental disclosure system covering climate change, water security and forests. Companies answer standardized questionnaires and receive a score from A to D-.
MSCI
ESG ratings and climate risk metrics used by investors. MSCI rates companies from AAA to CCC on how they manage the ESG risks and opportunities of their industry.
Sustainalytics
ESG risk ratings used by investors. Sustainalytics measures each company's exposure to ESG risks and how well it manages them, on a scale from negligible to severe.
B Corp
Global certification for companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. B Lab assesses governance, workers, community, environment and customers.
Label Engagé RSE
French CSR label from AFNOR, based on ISO 26000. It assesses governance, human rights, environment and stakeholder relations, with four maturity levels.
Positive Company Label
French label for companies that generate a positive social and environmental impact. It assesses how activities, products and governance contribute to the common good beyond profit.
CSR Reporting & Compliance
VSME
EU voluntary sustainability reporting standard (VS, formerly VSME) for companies with 1,000 employees or fewer. It also sets the ceiling for CSRD clients' value-chain requests and has a Basic Module and a Comprehensive Module.
CSRD
EU directive on corporate sustainability reporting, applied through the ESRS standards. Since Omnibus I, it covers companies with more than 1,000 employees and more than €450M in net turnover.
Carbon footprint
Measurement and reduction of a company's greenhouse gas emissions across scopes 1, 2 and 3. The topic covers calculation methods, French regulation (BEGES), reduction pathways and decarbonization.
Mid Cap Standards
Earlier idea of a separate sustainability reporting framework for mid-sized companies (250 to 750 employees). Companies with 1,000 employees or fewer are now covered by the Voluntary Standard (VS, formerly VSME), and the CSRD applies above 1,000 employees and €450M in net turnover.
UN Global Compact
The world's largest corporate sustainability initiative, led by the UN and built on 10 universal principles. Participating companies commit to these principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption and report on their progress every year.
Sapin II Law
French anti-corruption law for large companies. It requires eight measures, including a risk map, training, accounting controls and a whistleblowing system.
GDPR
EU regulation on the protection of personal data. It sets strict rules for collecting, processing and storing personal data, with significant penalties for non-compliance.
ISO Standards (Management Systems)
ISO 14001
International standard for environmental management systems. It sets requirements for measuring and improving environmental performance, reducing waste and meeting environmental regulations.
ISO 9001
International standard for quality management systems. It sets requirements for improving customer satisfaction and processes through a structured management approach.
ISO 45001
International standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It sets requirements for preventing work-related injuries and ill health and improving workplace safety.
ISO 22000
International standard for food safety management systems. It builds on HACCP principles and management system requirements to ensure food safety along the whole food chain.
ISO 22716
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standard for cosmetics. It sets guidelines for the production, control, storage and shipment of cosmetic products to ensure their quality and safety.
ISO 13485
International standard for quality management systems of medical devices. It sets requirements for manufacturers to meet regulatory obligations and maintain consistent quality across the product lifecycle.
ISO 31000
International standard with guidelines for risk management. It sets out principles, a framework and a process for managing risks in any type of organization or activity.
