Euromac: an industrial player responding to growing CSR requirements
Euromac is a Polish industrial company operating in an increasingly demanding environment regarding corporate social responsibility. Faced with clients imposing strict CSR criteria in their selection processes, the company had already taken a first step by obtaining a Committed EcoVadis badge.
However, this rating did not fully reflect the scope of CSR initiatives already implemented within the organization. While numerous environmental, social, and ethical practices were in place, they required further structuring and alignment with EcoVadis methodology to be fully recognized in the assessment process.
In a market where CSR performance has become a key differentiating factor, Euromac aimed to elevate its sustainability profile and strengthen its competitive position.
Before the collaboration, preparing and organizing the required documentation was a significant challenge. We needed clearer guidance on how to align our existing practices with EcoVadis expectations. Additionally, we did not have a dedicated sustainability team at that time.

Challenge
Structuring and formalizing an existing CSR approach
Before collaborating with Ditto, Euromac faced several structural challenges that limited its ability to fully reflect its CSR maturity within the EcoVadis framework.
The absence of a dedicated CSR team
As a mid-sized industrial company, Euromac did not have a standalone CSR department. Responsibility for sustainability topics was distributed across various functions, alongside operational duties.
While this ensured that CSR actions were embedded in day-to-day activities, it made centralized coordination and formal reporting more complex.
Aligning existing practices with EcoVadis methodology
The key challenge was not the absence of initiatives, but the need to align established practices with EcoVadis expectations. The team required clearer guidance on:
- Which types of documents were expected under each assessment theme (Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, Sustainable Procurement)
- What level of detail was expected in policies, actions, and reporting
- How to structure supporting evidence so it would be recognized by EcoVadis analysts
- Which supporting documents to provide to demonstrate effective implementation of commitments
This opacity led to considerable time loss and a high risk of producing documents not compliant with the EcoVadis methodology.
Decentralized information flows
Relevant CSR data existed across multiple departments — HR, procurement, production, quality, and environment. The challenge was to consolidate and translate this operational reality into a coherent sustainability narrative aligned with assessment standards.
An assessment that did not reflect actual maturity
Although Euromac had already obtained a Committed badge, this rating did not fully capture the extent of the company’s internal efforts.
The organization was implementing concrete environmental, social, and ethical actions, but these were not yet fully formalized and documented according to EcoVadis methodology.
Solution
Turnkey support built on deep EcoVadis expertise
Faced with these challenges and aware of its resource constraints, Euromac opted for support where Ditto independently handles the main documentation structuring process, allowing the client to focus solely on providing the data.
1. Expert gap analysis against EcoVadis criteria
The first step consisted of conducting a comprehensive analysis of Euromac's existing practices through the lens of the EcoVadis methodology:
- Identification of CSR actions already in place but not showcased in the 21 assessment criteria
- Gap analysis between current documentation and specific expectations of EcoVadis analysts
- Prioritization of improvement areas based on their weight in the four themes (Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, Sustainable Procurement)
Thanks to deep knowledge of the EcoVadis methodology and its evolution, a targeted roadmap was built, focused on elements with the greatest impact on the final score.
2. Pre-filled templates aligned with EcoVadis analyst expectations
One of the elements most appreciated by Euromac was the provision of pre-filled templates for the four major CSR policies, developed based on hundreds of successful EcoVadis assessments.
These templates, structured according to the 21 assessment criteria and incorporating best practices recognized by EcoVadis, enabled Euromac's team to:
- Save considerable time on writing
- Ensure each policy covered all expected sub-criteria
- Adopt the right level of granularity and wording recognized by analysts
- Focus on adapting content to their operational reality rather than starting from scratch
3. A work plan structured according to EcoVadis assessment logic
Euromac received a structured Excel workbook that:
- Exhaustively listed all indicators expected for each EcoVadis criterion
- Clearly explained analyst expectations for each questionnaire question
- Indicated the level of detail required to score points on each sub-criterion
- Guided the team on supporting documents to produce and their optimal format
Precise knowledge of the scoring grid enabled Euromac to navigate the complexity of the questionnaire efficiently and work autonomously with clarity.
4. Expert structuring of supporting evidence
Unlike traditional support where the client remains alone facing document production, EcoVadis experts managed the entire structuring process:
- Policy writing according to standards expected by analysts
- Formatting of reporting documents in compliance with scoring criteria
- Structuring of measures (Actions) to demonstrate effective implementation
- Verification of consistency between policies, reporting, and actions to maximize points on each criterion
Euromac’s team could thus focus on gathering data from different departments — already substantial work in itself.
The structured Excel guidance that you provided for us clearly explained EcoVadis expectations and helped us focus on the right level of details. It covered all of the main questions and tasks we had to do.

Impact
A result exceeding all expectations: from Committed to Platinum
The results obtained by Euromac far exceeded initial objectives.
Remarkable progression in the assessment
Euromac moved directly from Committed badge to Platinum medal — a fourfold jump that is extremely rare during an EcoVadis reassessment.
This result places the company in the top 1% worldwide of companies assessed by EcoVadis.
This progression is explained by:
- Effective structuring of policies covering all 21 EcoVadis criteria
- Provision of concrete evidence meeting expectations for each commitment made
- Use of documentation formats recognized by EcoVadis analysts
- Showcasing of existing actions that were not previously recognized in the scoring
A result beyond initial expectations
As Robert explains: “To be honest, we were confident about the documentation we uploaded to EcoVadis, but still it exceeded my expectations that we got a Platinum rating. I was closer to expecting Gold or Silver.”
This positive surprise demonstrates the effectiveness of a methodology-driven, expert-led approach.
Considerable time savings thanks to expert templates
The use of pre-filled templates allowed Euromac to save weeks of work.
Rather than spending time understanding how to structure each policy according to analyst expectations, the team focused on adapting content to their operational reality and gathering data from departments.
A collective celebration and shared pride
Obtaining the Platinum medal was celebrated within Euromac as a collective victory. The team gathered to proudly announce this exceptional result, and employees welcomed the news enthusiastically.
The success was also shared on the company’s LinkedIn profile, strengthening its brand image as a responsible actor.
Strengthened competitive positioning
Being ranked in the top 1% worldwide constitutes a major differentiating asset.
In a context where clients increasingly integrate CSR criteria into supplier selection processes, a Platinum EcoVadis medal becomes an undeniable competitive advantage.
One of the biggest advantages, in my opinion, was the prefilled templates for the four policies. It was a very solid starting point and significantly reduced the time needed to prepare the key documentation.

When EcoVadis expertise makes the difference
Euromac’s experience demonstrates that exceptional CSR certification results can be achieved even without a large dedicated team.
The key lies in deep expertise of the EcoVadis methodology and the ability to translate a company’s concrete actions into the language expected by analysts.
By leveraging precise knowledge of the 21 assessment criteria, documentation expectations, and best practices recognized by EcoVadis, Euromac moved from Committed to Platinum in a single assessment, joined the top 1% worldwide, and saved weeks of work.
A clear message: with the right structure, the right expertise, and the right tools, CSR performance can become a real growth driver.
