EUDR
EU Deforestation Regulation
The EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2023/1115) bans placing seven commodities and their derived products on the EU market unless they are deforestation-free, legally produced and covered by a due diligence statement.
The seven commodities are cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soy and wood. "Deforestation-free" means produced on land that was not deforested after December 31, 2020. Companies must collect the geolocation of the plots where the commodities were produced and file a due diligence statement in the EU information system before placing the products on the market.
After two deferrals, the last by Regulation (EU) 2025/2650, the EUDR applies from December 30, 2026 for large and medium-sized companies and from June 30, 2027 for micro and small enterprises. The Commission published a simplification package in May 2026; check the latest status before planning, because the calendar and some obligations can still move.
